Andalucia’s Fuerte Hotels Introduces Electric Car Rental

The Hotel Fuerte El Rompido has become a pioneer of offering clean and sustainable mobility for its customers.

Fuerte Hotels has launched a rental service for non-polluting cars for their guests at their El Rompido location (Huelva), making them Andalucia’s first establishment to offers this type of sustainable mobility.

Following an agreement with Espanicar Rental, Hotel Fuerte will host two Renault Twizy electric vehicles on its premises. This 2.32m long, two-seat model is ideal for urban travel and offers a range of between 90 to 100km, reaching a speed of 85km an hour.

Further, the hotel has installed the first electric charging point for the area to assist guests in their use of the car, as well as others who find a way to use cars that do not add CO2 to the atmosphere.

Tomeu Roig, director of Fuerte El Rompido, said during a presentation that the hotel’s ability to offer an electric car rental is a “a step in favour of the commitment of Fuerte Hotels to provide sustainable solutions to our guests within the environmental policy of the hotel group.”

According to data released by the Government of Andalucia, motorised travel accounts for 40% of CO2 emissions and 70% of emissions of other contaminants. An electric vehicle spends between 1.5 and 2 euros of electricity to travel 100 miles, so that a car of its kind to cover 20,000 miles a year, saving more than 1540 litres of fuel and preventing the emission of 4 tones of CO2.
