{"id":2408,"date":"2017-01-18T11:17:03","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T10:17:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsc.fuerte-group.com\/fuerte-group-hotels-60-aniversario\/"},"modified":"2024-05-04T15:27:58","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T13:27:58","slug":"fuerte-group-hotels-60-aniversario","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsc.fuerte-group.com\/en\/fuerte-group-hotels-60-aniversario\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuerte Group Hotels celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><strong>The chain is ushering in the year by celebrating winning major awards<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>16 January 2017. <strong>2017<\/strong> represents a <strong>milestone<\/strong> in the history of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fuertehoteles.com\/en\/el-fuerte-group\/letter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fuerte Group Hotels<\/a> chain, founded in 1957 by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fuertehoteles.com\/en\/hotels\/fuerte-marbella\/history\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Luque Manzano<\/a> with the inauguration of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fuertehoteles.com\/en\/hotels\/fuerte-marbella\/the-hotel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fuerte Marbella<\/a>, the<strong> first hotel <\/strong>to open its doors in the centre of what used to be <strong>Marbella Village<\/strong>. Over the following <strong>60 years,<\/strong> the group grew to include a total of <strong>6 hotels<\/strong> and <strong>1 rental apartment complex<\/strong>, all of which are located in <strong>Andalucia<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-33041\" src=\"https:\/\/rsc.fuerte-group.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/old-fuerte-marbella-2.jpg\" alt=\"Fuerte Group Hotels celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2017 - Old Fuerte Marbella 1957\" width=\"640\" height=\"420\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In parallel, this <strong>pioneer <\/strong>who was well ahead of his time, and his <strong>high quality hotel<\/strong>, made a decisive <strong>contribution<\/strong> to Marbella&#8217;s transition from a small <strong>fishing village<\/strong> to the <strong>meeting point<\/strong> of the rich and famous from all over the world; people like <strong>Walt Disney<\/strong> and his dog Pluto, <strong>Rafael Alberti<\/strong> and, notably, the great <strong>Lola Flores<\/strong> who spent many summers at Fuerte Marbella before purchasing her renowned \u201c<em>Los Gitanillos<\/em>\u201d chalet in Marbella.<\/p>\n<p>Part of this <strong>history<\/strong> of the early days of <strong>Spanish tourism,<\/strong> specifically the sector in <strong>Marbella,<\/strong> is showcased in the <strong>Museum<\/strong> built by the <strong>Luque Family<\/strong> a few years ago in <strong>The Fort<\/strong>; <strong>Charles V<\/strong> ordered the construction of this stronghold in 1554 to repel attacks by pirates and it was subsequently used as a gunpowder magazine. Nowadays it is set in Fuerte Marbella\u2019s well appointed gardens and is open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Recognitions to kick off a year of festivities:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Fuerte Group Hotels has ushered in <strong>2017<\/strong> by winning a clutch of <strong>awards<\/strong> that recognise the <strong>high quality<\/strong> of its <strong>establishments<\/strong> and its commitment to <strong>sustainable tourism<\/strong>.
