{"id":2511,"date":"2019-09-22T08:00:33","date_gmt":"2019-09-22T06:00:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rsc.fuerte-group.com\/fuerte-group-hotels-reduce-plastic-use\/"},"modified":"2024-05-04T15:24:42","modified_gmt":"2024-05-04T13:24:42","slug":"fuerte-group-hotels-reduce-plastic-use","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rsc.fuerte-group.com\/en\/fuerte-group-hotels-reduce-plastic-use\/","title":{"rendered":"Fuerte Group Hotels launches a campaign to reduce plastic consumption at its hotels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The chain has also stepped up its efforts to protect our seas and oceans by participating on a sustainability project promoted by Aula del Mar de M\u00e1laga<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>19 September 2019. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fuerte-group.com\/en\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fuerte Group Hotels<\/a> is widely recognised as one of the most <strong>sustainable <\/strong>Spanish chains and the majority of its <strong>establishments <\/strong>are located at the <strong>seaside. <\/strong>That is why the company is acutely <strong>aware <\/strong>of the need to <strong>reduce <\/strong>its consumption of <strong>plastic <\/strong>and, in particular, to <strong>promote oceans <\/strong>as <strong>plastic-free zones <\/strong>as these <strong>materials<\/strong> <strong>harm <\/strong>both the ecosystem and the flora and fauna that inhabit them. With this in mind, the company has begun to <strong>replace <\/strong>many of the <strong>plastic products <\/strong>used on a daily basis at its hotels with <strong>others <\/strong>which are produced using more <strong>ecological and recyclable or compostable materials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>On this basis, gel, shampoo and moisturising cream dispensers and bottles have started to be produced using <strong>oxo biodegradable plastics <\/strong>(polymer of fossil origin to which a catalyst is added to facilitate oxidation); single-use glasses are made from <strong>paper; <\/strong>traditional straws have been replaced by <strong>bio straws<\/strong>; hygiene and laundry bags are made from <strong>potato starch<\/strong>; instead of presenting fabric slippers in plastic bags, they are wrapped in a <strong>cardboard <\/strong>fastening and various complementary items such as dental, shaving, lady&#8217;s, shoe-shining or sponge kits, are presented inside a <strong>tissue paper<\/strong> casing instead of a plastic one.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-46534\" src=\"https:\/\/rsc.fuerte-group.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/reducir-plastico.jpg\" alt=\"reducir el consumo de pl\u00e1sticos\" width=\"640\" height=\"420\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, looking ahead to <strong>next season, <\/strong>further alternatives will be considered such as the use of <strong>potato starch <\/strong>for bin bags in rooms, the use of <strong>cardboard <\/strong>pencils and pens instead of plastic ones, and the production of <strong>fabric <\/strong>VIP-service or All-Inclusive ID wristbands, to name but a few.<\/p>\n<h2>Support for the project of Aula del Mar de M\u00e1laga<\/h2>\n<p>In recent years, <strong>Fuerte Group Hotels <\/strong>has helped to promote a specific <strong>sustainability project<\/strong> every<strong> season<\/strong>. In <strong>2017, <\/strong>it selected a proposal for <strong>CO2 offsetting <\/strong>in Brazil; in <strong>2018, <\/strong>the reforestation and recovery of <strong>Spanish Fir<\/strong> in a wood located in Sierra de las Nieves (Malaga); and for <strong>2019, <\/strong>it has chosen a campaign geared towards <strong>reducing <\/strong>the presence of <strong>plastics <\/strong>in seas, which will be carried out by <strong>Aula del Mar de M\u00e1laga, <\/strong>a scientific research entity which has blazed a trail in this area based on its commitment to education and involvement in the preservation of natural resources and improvement of natural ecosystems.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The chain has also stepped up its efforts to protect our seas and oceans by participating on a sustainability project promoted by Aula del Mar de M\u00e1laga 19 September 2019.
